What it Means to be a Dallas Cowboys Super Fan

The Dallas Cowboys are known as “America’s Team” for a reason. They have some of the most supportive and die-hard fans in all of the NFL. The Cowboys haven’t made it to the Super Bowl since 1996, but their fans still come out in droves. A recent study conducted by Sidelines that used eight different metrics, including social media engagement, attendance totals and money spent on merchandise, concluded the Cowboys have the best fans in the NFL. The team’s fan base is apparent in nearly every major city across the United States.

The Dallas Cowboys truly became America’s Team between 1963-1983, when they won more games than any other team and had a winning record for 20 straight seasons between 1966 and 1985. The Cowboys and their fans are led by Owner, President and General Manager Jerry Jones. Jones holds the record for the first owner in NFL history to lead his team to three Super Bowl titles within the first seven years of ownership.

Dallas Cowboys Fans on Gameday

Game day for the Dallas Cowboys is nothing short of a spectacle. AT&T Stadium is one of the largest NFL Stadiums, seating up to 80,000 fans and up to 105,000 with standing room. Tailgates outside of AT&T Stadium in the 15 lots surrounding the stadium fill up around five hours before kickoff. With more than 12,000 parking spots around the stadium and another 12,000 spots by the nearby Texas Rangers ballpark, there is plenty of room for fans to join in on the party. Tailgating at AT&T Stadium is only allowed on the grassy areas in Lots 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15. Tailgates feature games, drinking and of course some of the best barbecue in the world. Fans everywhere are also covered head to toe in the team’s iconic blue and white.

Tailgating is then followed by the game itself. Fans cheer and scream for the Cowboys while chanting their beloved fight song, “Cowboys Stampede March.” There are also the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, who are iconic.

Memorable Moments in Dallas Cowboys Fandom

A key moment in Dallas Cowboys history was their sweet revenge over the San Francisco 49ers in the 1992 NFC Championship. This was the beginning of the Cowboys 1990s dynasty team, where the Cowboys won three Super Bowls during the 1992, 1993 and 1995 seasons. These were the glory years for the Dallas Cowboys and their fans. Popularity for the Cowboys boomed after the three Super Bowl wins, however what is more impressive is how the fans for the team continued to grow, even though the team has not won a Super Bowl since that 1995 season.

Famous actors, singers and other athletes all come together to support America’s Team. Some of the most notable Dallas Cowboy fans include Denzel Washington, who has been seen at the Dallas Cowboys training camp multiple times, actress and singer Selena Gomez, who grew up in Dallas and performed a halftime show during their Thanksgiving Day game in 2013, as well as rap mogul JAY-Z. Actress Eva Longoria is also a fan who grew up in Texas and has been seen on the sidelines of Cowboys games. NBA superstar LeBron James is a Dallas Cowboys, as is. Oscar and Grammy winner Jamie Foxx, who grew up in Texas and has been photographed on the sidelines with Cowboys players after home games.
