The first competitive meeting of the Angels and Dodgers took place in June of 1997 when the Dodgers won 4–3. Between 1997 and 2022, the squads have squared off 140 times, with the Angels leading 73–67.
Throughout the 2010s, the Angels held the overall head-to-head edge 29–21. However, the Dodgers have gone 13–3 through the 2020s, including four straight through 2022. The largest margin of victory is 13 runs, by both teams. The Angels blanked the Dodgers 13–0 in 2004, and the Dodgers won via blowout 16–3 in 2006. As of 2022, the two teams have never met in the playoffs, and have only made the postseason in the same year four times: 2004, 2008, 2009, and 2014.
