Los Angeles Chargers vs. Kansas City Chiefs History
The history between the Chargers and the Chiefs has been substantially competitive from its inception. Throughout the first 20 years, through 40 games, Kansas City held the head-to-head edge 20-19-1. In 1964, Kansas City bested the Chargers 49-6, which is their largest margin of victory in the season. In 1975, the Chargers beat the Chiefs in Week 12 to avoid a completely winless season, scoring 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to win 28-20.
In the only playoff matchup between the two teams, the Chargers blanked the Chiefs 17-0 in the AFC Wild Card Round in 1992. The competitiveness between the two franchises kicked up a notch with the turn of the millennium, when future Super Bowl MVP and Hall-of-Famer Drew Brees made his debut for the Chargers in Week 8 in 2001 against the Chiefs. Brees led the Chargers from a 19-0 deficit, scoring 20 straight points to take the lead; however, the Chiefs scored a game-winning touchdown in the final two minutes.
Between 2010 and 2023, the Chiefs won 17 out of 26 games, including four out of the last six behind the stellar play of quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium is the home of the Kansas City Chiefs. Located in Kansas City, Missouri and known for having one of the best home-field advantages in all of professional sports, fans at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium are proud of the wall of noise they create for opposing teams (despite only being the sixth-largest stadium in the NFL). Arrowhead opened in August 1972 and took approximately four years to construct.
The Los Angeles Chargers play at SoFi Stadium, one of the newest and the largest stadiums in the NFL. Opening in September 2020 in the Inglewood neighborhood, where there are many fun things for fans to do, SoFi cost an estimated $6 billion to construct and took four years from start to finish. Though it has a capacity of 70,240, that can be expanded to more than 100,000 for major events such as the Super Bowl and the NCAA College Football Playoff.
