Rogers Place is the home arena of the National Hockey League’s Edmonton Oilers. Located near Edmonton City Centre at 10220 104 Ave NW, the arena sits between MacEwan University and the Royal Alberta Museum. The Oilers played their first game at the arena on October 12, 2016 against their biggest rival, the Calgary Flames. During the pregame ceremony, a statue of Wayne Gretzky was unveiled outside the arena, with the hockey great and his former Oilers teammate Mark Messier both in attendance.

Rogers Place History

Rogers Place was built from 2014 to 2016 to replace Northlands Coliseum as the home arena for the Oilers. But rather than a hockey game, the first event to ever take place in the venue was Keith Urban’s Edmonton tour stop on his 2016 Ripcord World Tour, with special guests Dallas Smith and Maren Morris.

In addition to the Oilers, Rogers Place also serves as home turf for the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings. The junior league team actually played the first sporting event at the arena on September 24, 2016 — nearly three weeks before the Oilers made their first appearance on the ice.

During their initial season at the arena, the Oilers made the Stanley Cup playoffs for the first time since 2006 — ending an 11-year drought. Since its opening, the arena has also hosted the Stanley Cup finals twice: once in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and again in 2024.

Parking and Admission at Rogers Place

Parking near Rogers Place can be found at the ICE District Central Parkade, located on the north side of 103 Ave. The parking garage offers convenient indoor access to the arena via the P1 elevator or the Stantec Tower Level Two pedway.

Parking reservations can be made in the ICE District ahead of any event, including daily options and group parking. Additional parking is available in the downtown area surrounding Rogers Place and Edmonton City Centre.n Rogers Place is also accessible via public transit on the Edmonton LRT system (at the Metro Line’s MacEwan station) and the Edmonton Transit Bus Service.

Rogers Place has a maximum capacity of 18,347 for hockey, 19,500 for basketball and a whopping 20,734 for concerts and other events. The arena contains both upper and lower bowl seating, as well as suites, theatre boxes and multiple clubs and lounges.
