Located in the downtown Warehouse District of Minneapolis, Target Field has been the home of the Minnesota Twins since 2010. It is a fully open-air stadium that offers impressive views of the city. It replaced the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, the previous home of the Twins, which was also shared by the Minnesota Vikings and University of Minnesota football teams. The team’s original logo, titled “Minnie and Paul,” overlooks the field from above the center field bleachers.

Target Field History

Target Field was designed by Populous, an architecture firm that also designed Pittsburgh’s PNC Park, Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore, and Oracle Park in San Francisco. While a fully outdoor ballpark replacing a dome was met with a bit of concern, focus groups ultimately swayed the planners, as they said a dome stadium doesn’t provide the best atmosphere for watching baseball. Target, which is based in Minneapolis, purchased the naming rights in 2008.

The stadium opened for the start of the 2010 regular season and, by the 2011 season, the Twins had added more renovations, including a scoreboard in right-center field, the “Twins Tower” next to the scoreboard, free Wi-Fi service, more heaters throughout the stadium, and better concessions. Four years after opening, Target Field was the site of the 2014 MLB All-Star Game.

It has hosted numerous concerts, including Paul McCartney, Zac Brown Band, Luke Bryan, The Eagles, The Killers, and more. The largest crowd in Target Field history was for a Kenny Chesney concert. The stadium has also been used for football games, soccer matches, and the 2022 NHL Winter Classic.

Parking and Admission at Target Field

The large ABC ramps complex near Interstate 394 is next to the stadium. Preferred game day parking is offered in Ramps A and B for $15 and Ramp C and the Hawthorne Ramp for $13 if you prepay and reserve your spot with SpotHero. Prices are up to 50% off if you prepay. You can also take the METRO Blue Line and METRO Green Line light rails to Target Field from Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Bloomington. If you’re coming from the northeast suburbs, a Northstar Line commuter train will drop you off at the stadium as well. SouthWest Transit will also take you to the stadium. The Cedar Lake Trail offers biking options to the stadium while the enclosed Skyway walkways system provides another way to get there.

Bags smaller than 16” x 16” x 8” are allowed at Target Field, as are sealed water bottles that are 32 oz. or less. Backpacks, laptop bags, duffel bags, and bags larger than what is allowed are not prohibited. If you happen to bring a prohibited bag, there is storage for them, and you can pick up your bag after the game, free of charge.

Nearly 40,000 fans can fit inside Target Field, as the capacity is 39,504. Seating options are available all over the stadium, so there are plenty of vantage points. There are main level seats, terrace level seats, outfield mezzanine level seats, roof deck seats, and then club level and suite level seats. The Delta SKY360™ Club is behind home plate and mainly up the third base line while the event suites are down the right field line. Legends Landing is behind home plate, as is the Thomson Reuters Champions Club, which are arguably the most premium seats in the stadium.That club is on the field level while the rest of the club seats are on the club level. Club-level seats get you premium food and beverage service in the club and climate-controlled interiors.

Suite-level seating includes the Delta SKY360™ Suite, which is in centerfield and offers cabanas and in-seat technology to order food and beverages. Suites and club-level seats are mostly available on full or half-season packages. Food & Beverage Options at Target Field

Each season, Target Field offers small businesses the opportunity to sell their products in the Creator’s Corner inside Gate 34. Target Field is filled with bars, restaurants, and plenty of concession areas for fans. Truly On Deck is down the right field line and offers indoor and outdoor seating as well as places to grab a quick bite or have a sit-down meal. Minnie & Paul’s is a pub located in centerfield and is open to all guests. It offers Pizza Luce pizza and Red Cow burgers on top of a fully stocked bar. Gray Duck Deck, Gate 34 Pub, Town Ball Tavern, Hrbek’s, Twins Pub, and the Budweiser Roof Deck are all bars and restaurants open to fans during events.

There are plenty of traditional concessions, including hot dogs, sandwiches, nachos, chicken tenders, popcorn, and more.
