However, among postseason matchups, the series is tied 1–1 with Washington winning the first game and New York winning the last game against each other in the postseason in 1987. Both teams have had sustained success over the other franchise, with the Giants posting eight consecutive wins over the Commanders from 1961–1964, and Washington winning 11 straight games from 1971–1976. However, the Giants have the most lopsided victory in the all-time series, a 53–0 win in 1961.
